Deli Assistant – Fresh Food Service

About the role

We are looking for a Deli Assistant to join our fresh‑food team. The role focuses on preparing high‑quality hot and cold deli items while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders across all fresh‑food areas, including sandwiches, rolls, hot dishes and sliced meats using portion‑control measures.
• Cook, assemble and display deli products throughout the day, maintaining high presentation standards.
• Uphold Centra brand values—proud, energetic, imaginative and community‑based—in every interaction.
• Share product knowledge, recipes and personal recommendations with shoppers.
• Handle customer queries promptly and in line with store policy.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Previous experience in a deli or food‑service environment, with the ability to start work at 6 am.
• Team player who can thrive in a fast‑paced setting and multitask under pressure.
• Passion for food and the ability to inspire shoppers.

Required skills

• HACCP training (desirable but not mandatory).
• Food preparation and portion‑control techniques.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
