Deli Assistant – Fresh Food Service

About the role

We are looking for a Deli Assistant to prepare high‑quality hot and cold deli products while delivering excellent customer service. The role is focused on maintaining fresh‑food standards and supporting the Centra brand values.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders across all fresh‑food areas, including sandwiches, rolls, hot dishes and sliced meats.
• Cook, prepare and display foods throughout the day, ensuring portion‑control measures are followed.
• Maintain counter displays to the highest standards at all times.
• Share product knowledge, recipes and personal recommendations with shoppers.
• Handle customer queries efficiently and in line with store policy.
• Live the Centra brand values of being Proud, Energetic, Imaginative and Community‑Based.

Required profile

• Passion for food and the ability to inspire shoppers.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment and multitask under pressure.
• Previous customer service or deli/food‑service experience is an advantage.
• Availability for early starts (e.g., 6 am).

Required skills

• HACCP training (desirable but not mandatory).
