Senior Underground Ventilation Engineer

About the role

The Senior Underground Ventilation Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, tracking and reporting all ventilation activities in underground mining operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Reporting to the Planning Manager, the role combines technical expertise with leadership to maintain effective ventilation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily ventilation surveys.
• Prepare monthly ventilation reports.
• Update the monthly ventilation model.
• Review monthly plans and organise underground ventilation requirements.
• Provide quarterly and LOM ventilation planning.
• Prepare annual and quarterly ventilation cost forecasts.
• Deliver end‑of‑quarter reporting.
• Identify and implement improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor ventilation engineers.

Required profile

• Degree in mining engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of underground mining experience in a similar position.
• Fluent reading and writing in French and English.
• Proactive, dynamic, rigorous with a high sense of ethics and discretion.
• Strong leadership, communication, decision‑making, problem‑solving and hazard‑identification abilities.
• Capability to identify hazards and implement controls.
• Willingness to be available after regular working hours.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Reputation for integrity and demonstrated supervisory skills.
