First Stage Senior Design Engineer

About the role

MaiaSpace is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the First Stage team, responsible for the layout and equipment design of the reusable mini‑launch vehicle. You will work on defining stage architecture, managing interfaces, and delivering cost‑effective mechanical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage the overall stage layout and interface coherence.
• Perform trade‑offs to meet mass and cost targets.
• Develop 3D CAD models of the First Stage using Solidworks.
• Design hardware integrations such as lines, harnesses, supports, secondary structures, and tank equipment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand constraints and reach optimal compromises.
• Select and engage suppliers, follow part manufacturing, and support integration teams.
• Assist with anomaly treatment and contribute to broader mechanical design activities in an Agile environment.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering degree with at least 5 years of post‑baccalaureate experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical architecture for vehicles (automotive, naval, aeronautic, or space).
• Strong communication, teamwork, and autonomous work ethic.
• Proficiency in English for technical documentation and presentations.
