Country Coordinator – Burkina Faso (Sahel Region)

About the role

The Country Coordinator will ensure that IFDC’s program activities in Burkina Faso align with the overall vision and leadership of the Sahel Region initiative. This role leads the local implementation team, builds strong partnerships, and represents the program in meetings, conferences, and public forums.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure in‑country program activities follow IFDC’s strategic vision.
• Support program leadership and consortium partners to build and manage a high‑performing implementation team.
• Develop and maintain relationships with implementing partners, ensuring synergy and leverage across projects.
• Represent the program at meetings, conferences, and other public events.
• Lead regular project management meetings with consortium members and donor embassy representatives.
• Guarantee compliance with national sector strategies, policies, and donor requirements.
• Monitor overall expenditure, private‑sector contributions, and financial compliance.
• Supervise timely preparation of work plans, progress reports, and financial statements.
• Organise monthly cash‑flow forecasts and request advance funds as needed.
• Track project indicators, evaluate results, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with IFDC leadership to ensure administrative and financial procedures meet contract provisions.
• Maintain a desirable budget burn rate and oversee in‑country budget management.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by IFDC leadership.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead multi‑stakeholder programs in a developing‑country context.
• Strong relationship‑building and communication skills with government, private sector, and donor partners.
• Experience in financial monitoring, budgeting, and compliance reporting.
• Capacity to supervise teams, manage cash‑flow, and ensure high‑quality deliverables.
• Flexibility to travel within Burkina Faso and represent IFDC at external events.
