English Second Language Instructor

About the role

Centre Burkinabe de Langues (CBL) in Ouagadougou is seeking a full‑time English Second Language Instructor to deliver high‑quality English courses to non‑native speakers. The successful candidate will create engaging lessons, develop curricula tailored to diverse learner needs, and assess progress to ensure continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Teach English reading, writing, speaking and listening to individuals and groups.
• Design and adapt lesson plans and teaching materials that reflect TEFL best practices.
• Develop curricula and assessment tools aligned with learner objectives.
• Maintain an interactive, supportive classroom environment that encourages participation.
• Monitor student performance, provide feedback and report progress to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, English, Education or a related field.
• Certified TEFL, TESOL or CELTA qualification (highly valued).
• Practical experience in teaching English as a foreign language and curriculum development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with flexibility to address diverse student needs.
• Knowledge of local languages or Burkinabe culture is a plus.
