Regional Strategy, Programmes & Influencing Director

About the role

Plan International is seeking a senior leader to drive its strategy, programmes and influencing work across West and Central Africa. The role will shape regional implementation of the 2022‑2027 Global Strategy, ensuring high‑impact, gender‑transformative interventions and strong partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the realisation of the global strategy in the WACA region, coordinating with Country Offices, National Offices and the Global Hub.
• Oversee the design, delivery and quality of programmes and influencing initiatives, focusing on impact, legitimacy and sustainability.
• Manage a multidisciplinary regional team, providing guidance and support to achieve regional priorities.
• Represent Plan International in regional forums and liaise with UN, AU and EU offices to promote a locally‑led, globally‑connected agenda.
• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with donors, governments and civil‑society actors.
• Support the development and funding of multi‑country projects aligned with strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in strategy development, programme management and advocacy within the development or humanitarian sector.
• Proven track record of leading multi‑country teams and delivering gender‑transformative results.
• Strong understanding of regional political, social and economic contexts in West and Central Africa.
• Excellent stakeholder management and partnership‑building skills.
