Legal Counsel

About the role

Wave is building the first cashless continent in Africa and needs a Legal Counsel to support its growth in Burkina Faso and Niger. You will work closely with operational and functional teams, providing business‑oriented legal advice and ensuring compliance with local laws.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts across all business areas, aligning them with company objectives.
• Lead high‑value contract negotiations and implement contract policies, management systems, e‑signature tools, and archiving procedures.
• Implement and update group legal policies, including data privacy and contract policies.
• Develop procedures for managing legal claims, including pre‑litigation strategy, mediation, arbitration, and litigation follow‑up.
• Provide legal support for employment matters such as contracts, disciplinary procedures, and terminations.
• Support company secretarial duties and collaborate with Risk and Controls teams on risk management.

Required profile

• Legal degree with experience in corporate, contract, and employment law.
• Proven ability to give clear, practical legal advice that balances business needs and risk.
• Experience handling complex negotiations and litigation processes.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
