Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are looking for an analytical Excel Specialist to lead our data operations remotely across Africa. You will transform raw data into actionable business intelligence by building advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards, and interactive templates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Develop and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Create dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance‑tracking models for senior management.
• Audit and troubleshoot existing Excel files to resolve formula errors and data mapping issues.
• Translate technical data insights into visual formats and train cross‑functional remote teams on reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modelling.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate across African time zones.
• Strong problem‑solving, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with Power BI, SQL databases or data‑visualisation principles.

• Microsoft Excel – advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query.
• VBA programming and macro development.
• Power Query and Power Pivot for data transformation.
• Power BI for visualisation.
• SQL database querying.
