Deck Superintendent – Newbuilding Projects

About the role

The Deck Superintendent will lead the design, inspection and approval processes for new‑building deck and bridge systems across Royal Caribbean’s fleet. You will coordinate with shipyards, vendors and internal teams to ensure that all deck‑related projects meet technical, safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage deck, hull outfitting, bridge design and continuous development activities.
• Coordinate meetings with shipyards and vendors, prepare agendas and minutes.
• Oversee approval processes for factory acceptance tests, harbor and sea trials.
• Participate in coating, safety, out‑fitting, LSA, safety and firefighting plan inspections.
• Implement lessons learned and innovations from existing fleet into new projects.
• Support brand start‑up crews and provide post‑delivery assistance.

Required profile

• Deck officer at sea, naval architect or marine engineer.
• Minimum five years of experience with new‑building marine technologies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with suppliers and remote colleagues.
• Willingness to travel and work in multicultural environments.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of SOLAS regulations.
• Familiarity with IMO standards.
• Understanding of ship technical systems.
• Experience with energy and environmental design technologies.
• Computer literacy.
