Country Director – Burkina Faso

About the role

The Country Director will provide strategic leadership for World Vision’s operations in Burkina Faso, overseeing multi‑sector programmes that reach over 1.4 million people. Reporting to the global partnership, the role represents World Vision to donors, government, churches and NGOs while ensuring the organisation’s mission to improve children’s lives is achieved.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of programmes across eight regions, covering food security, health, nutrition, WASH, protection and resilience.
• Develop and maintain relationships with donors, partners, local authorities and faith‑based organisations.
• Ensure compliance with World Vision policies, donor requirements and local regulations.
• Manage budgets, staffing and operational resources to achieve high impact and efficiency.
• Represent World Vision at national forums, advocacy events and coordination meetings.

Required profile

• Burkina Faso national with extensive senior‑level experience in humanitarian or development programmes.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi‑sector initiatives and managing complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of child protection, gender equality, disability inclusion and climate adaptation within development contexts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with donors, government and civil society.
