Health Specialist – MNCH/HIV

About the role

The Health Specialist (Maternal, Newborn & Child Health/HIV/AIDS) will support UNICEF’s country programme in Burkina Faso by providing technical leadership and management expertise for integrated health interventions. Reporting to the Chief of Health, the role focuses on delivering rights‑based, equity‑focused and gender‑responsive programmes that are resilient to shocks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of MNCH and HIV/AIDS programmes.
• Provide technical guidance and operational support throughout the programme cycle.
• Drive innovation, systems strengthening and knowledge management.
• Manage programme results, reporting and accountability in line with UNICEF’s RBM framework.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Support capacity‑building activities for staff and partners.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, nutrition, pediatric health, health policy, epidemiology or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in public health planning, maternal and newborn health, HIV/AIDS care or health emergency preparedness.
• Experience working in a developing country is preferred.
