Health Specialist (Maternal, Newborn & Child Health/HIV/AIDS)

About the role

The Health Specialist (Maternal, Newborn & Child Health/HIV/AIDS) will support UNICEF’s country programme in Burkina Faso by providing leadership, technical expertise and management support for integrated MNCH and HIV/AIDS interventions. Reporting to the Chief of Health, the role ensures programmes are rights‑based, gender‑responsive and resilient, aligned with UNICEF’s strategic priorities and results‑based management principles.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of MNCH and HIV/AIDS programmes.
• Drive innovation and systems strengthening to improve health outcomes.
• Manage programme planning, budgeting, and delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational guidance throughout the programme cycle.
• Support networking, partnership building and knowledge management.
• Ensure interventions are equity‑focused and aligned with global best practices.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio‑medical, health education, epidemiology or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health, HIV/AIDS care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
• Experience working in a developing country.
