Portfolio Finance Director

About the role

We are seeking a Portfolio Finance Director to lead financial management and strategy for a diverse portfolio of social enterprises and charities. As a senior leader within our multi‑skilled team, you will deliver high‑quality, bespoke finance services that create social value.

Key responsibilities

• Work with board members, leadership teams, budget holders and staff to improve financial understanding and decision‑making.
• Produce accurate financial reports, ad‑hoc analyses, projections, scenario modelling and long‑term financial plans.
• Support clients with business planning for funding bids and investment opportunities.
• Identify and implement operational improvements to systems, processes and financial controls.
• Oversee monthly management accounts, cash‑flow forecasts, annual budgeting and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare annual accounts in line with regulatory standards, including the Charity SORP.

Required profile

• Accountancy qualification with significant post‑qualifying experience.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with not‑for‑profit or service‑sector organisations.
• Experience coaching, training and delegating tasks within a team.
