Country Director – Burkina Faso

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a National Country Director to lead its operations in Burkina Faso. This senior position oversees all programmatic, operational, and strategic activities, representing the IRC to government, donors, UN agencies, and NGOs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Burkinabe authorities, donors, UN agencies, the EU, NGOs, and coordination platforms.
• Position the IRC as a key partner for major donors and local civil society, securing diversified funding.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of humanitarian and recovery programmes for IDPs, refugees, returnees, and host communities.
• Ensure rigorous risk management and compliance with humanitarian principles, safeguarding, and accountability standards.
• Act as the primary legal representative of the IRC in Burkina Faso.

• Proven ability to diversify funding sources and manage complex donor relationships.
• Strong judgment in risk management within a volatile security environment.
