UNODC Internship – Trafficking & Smuggling Project Support

About the role

This unpaid internship with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) supports the Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (TIPSOM) unit in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The intern will assist the Associate Programme Officer in planning, implementing, and monitoring anti‑trafficking projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and revising detailed work plans for project implementation.
• Contribute daily to project activities, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Participate in field visits to monitor project progress.
• Collect and analyse up‑to‑date information from various sources.
• Support documentation, filing, and correspondence management.
• Provide guidance to partners on project documentation and expense reporting.
• Help organise workshops, training seminars, and other outreach events.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master) in law, international relations, administration, management or communication, or final year of a bachelor’s programme.
• Official proof of enrollment or graduation attached to the application.
• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.
• Ability to draft news articles or social‑media posts.
• Capability to design surveys and polls.
