About the role
The Head of the Training Institute will provide strategic and operational leadership to establish, grow, and manage a professional and vocational training centre. This senior role ensures high‑quality, employment‑focused programmes that meet industry needs and national workforce‑development priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead planning, launch, administration and expansion of the institute.
- Develop annual operating plans, budgets, enrollment targets and performance goals.
- Identify market‑relevant programmes based on employer and community needs.
- Oversee curriculum development, course delivery, assessments and certification.
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate instructors and administrative staff.
- Establish academic policies, quality standards, operating procedures and reporting systems.
- Build partnerships with government, employers, universities, NGOs and international organisations.
- Create corporate training, executive education and customised workforce‑development programmes.
- Set up employer advisory groups, internships, apprenticeships and job‑placement partnerships.
- Lead student recruitment, admissions, orientation, retention and career‑support initiatives.
- Ensure programmes are practical, affordable, inclusive and accessible to women, youth and underserved communities.
- Oversee facilities, equipment, laboratories, workshops, learning technologies and student safety.
- Introduce digital‑learning platforms and management information systems.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations, accreditation and health‑safety standards.
- Monitor enrollment, attendance, completion, certification, employment and student‑satisfaction outcomes.
- Represent the institute at meetings, conferences, industry forums and community events.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, Business Administration, Human Resources, Engineering, Technology or a related field.
- Master’s degree or professional training qualification preferred.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, including five years in a senior leadership or institutional‑management role.
- Experience managing a vocational, technical, professional or higher‑education institution strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, instructor management, business development or workforce training.
- Experience working with government agencies, employers, development organisations or international partners is an advantage.
