Acting HSE Manager – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term (Renewable)

About the role

The Acting HSE Manager will lead the health, safety and environmental strategy for a mining operation on a 12‑month renewable contract, while developing a qualified successor to ensure continuity of leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the HSE management system.
• Lead risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and corrective‑action programmes.
• Establish and maintain an HSE training and competency framework, delivering coaching and mentorship.
• Identify, coach and transition a successor, progressively delegating authority and ensuring readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or related field.
• Professional HSE qualification/certification with significant HSE management experience, preferably in underground mining.
• Proven leadership, coaching and people‑development experience.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management, incident investigation and auditing.
