Director of Operations – Head of Operations

About the role

Wave Burkina is seeking a resourceful Director of Operations to lead day‑to‑day field activities during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to the General Manager of Burkina and working closely with the Head of Scaling Operations, you will shape operational strategy to accelerate user acquisition and build a high‑quality agent network across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all field operations, addressing growth bottlenecks from first principles.
• Manage core operational teams including agent operations, liquidity, cash security, quality assurance and training.
• Drive strategic projects that improve agent network quality and boost user growth.
• Hire, develop and manage a high‑performing local operations team.
• Translate company‑wide objectives into actionable operational plans for Burkina.
• Collaborate with Growth, People and Ops leaders and share insights to inform Wave’s broader strategy.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing multi‑disciplinary operational teams in a fast‑growing environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to solve complex problems from first principles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Burkina Faso and travel to field locations as needed.
