Legal Counsel

About the role

Wave is building financial services to make Africa cashless. As a Legal Counsel, you will support the Legal Team and help ensure compliance across our operations in Burkina Faso and Niger, providing practical, business‑oriented legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts across all business areas, aligning them with company objectives and legal requirements.
• Lead high‑value contract negotiations and implement contract policies, management systems, and electronic signature tools.
• Implement and update group legal policies, including data privacy and contract policies.
• Develop procedures for managing legal claims, disputes, mediation, arbitration, and litigation follow‑up.
• Provide legal support for employment matters such as contracts, disciplinary procedures, and terminations.
• Assist the company secretary and collaborate with Risk and Controls teams on risk management.

Required profile

• Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice that balances business needs with compliance.
• Experience working closely with operational and functional teams to identify and manage legal risks.
• Strong communication skills to support various internal stakeholders.
